Karatay’s 5th Mosque‑Quran Cup Football Tournament Kicks Off

: Karatay Belediyesi, in partnership with Karatay District Muftiship, launched its 5th Traditional Mosque and Quran Course Friendship and Brotherhood Football Tournament for children attending summer Quran courses.

The event features 58 teams and 754 young athletes competing in two age groups – Minik (30 teams, 390 players) and Yıldız (28 teams, 364 players). The tournament gives children a chance to combine sport with their summer learning period, promoting teamwork, friendship, and community spirit.

Transportation for the participants is provided by Karatay Municipality, which will also offer refreshments throughout the competition. All teams will receive gifts, and awards will be presented after the finals.

Final matches are scheduled for Wednesday, 12 August 2026, at Nihat Gün Sports Facilities, operated by the Youth and Sports Directorate. The Minik final kicks off at 16:00, followed by the Yıldız final at 17:00. An award ceremony will start at 18:00, honoring the top three teams in each category with trophies, medals, and cash prizes.

Mayor Hasan Kılca emphasized that the event, now in its fifth year, supports children’s physical, social, and personal development. He noted that the tournament not only enriches the summer Quran course experience with sporting activities but also strengthens bonds of camaraderie and brotherhood among the youth. Kılca thanked the Karatay District Muftiship, coaches, and families for their contributions and expressed continued commitment to fostering holistic growth of Karatay’s young generation.
